The Six Nutrients, Defined

Carbohydrates

Vitamins

Organic micronutrients required in small amounts to regulate metabolic processes, support immunity, and enable cell growth. They are categorized as fat-soluble (A, D, E, K — stored in tissue) or water-soluble (B-complex, C — excreted more rapidly and needing regular replenishment).

Minerals

Inorganic elements including calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, iron, and zinc, among others. Minerals are critical for bone formation, nerve transmission, fluid balance, and oxygen transport. Water
